EPIC Update!
Hey everybody!
I wanted to give a short update of the status of EPIC, as it’s been a while since our last post. Here’s what’s happening:
- The EPIC #0 preview book has been extremely well received. So far, the book has seen limited convention release in Baltimore, Boston, and Ohio, and has sold very well. Up next is Wizard World Austin, where color artist Ty Tyner will have books on hand.
- The art team is hard at work on the EPIC/ Dynagirl cross-over comic short. (See the above image for a glimpse at the fun we have in store for you.) This 8 page short featuring a team up between EPIC and Cary Kelley’s Dynagirl is our team’s last little tune-up before launching head first into the ongoing series.
- Speaking of the first issue, the first draft of issue #1 is complete! We brought Steven Forbes on as editor, and I’ve received notes back from him. I’ll be reviewing those with Matt and bringing the script to the finish line in the next week. While I’m not one for spoilers, I can tell you this…you WILL get your money’s worth out of EPIC #1.
In terms of logistics, for the next few months, we’ll largely be working behind the scenes on production. So, this site will update sporadically at best. However, we will make a strong effort to update our Facebook page more regularly, so make sure to become a fan and keep up with the latest there. Expect EpicComic.com to get a major facelift in 2011, followed by regularly scheduled updates as EPIC launches as a webcomic.
- I’m pleased to announce a new partnership with digital distributor Graphic.ly! Complete issues of EPIC will be available for purchase through Graphic.ly as soon as they’re finished. So readers will have the opportunity to purchase copies of EPIC for desktop or mobile viewing, or they can choose to read the comic for free on a page by page updated webcomics model. (And of course, we’ll have print copies for all you dead tree fans as well.)
Again, we appreciate your interest in the comic and really look forward to knocking your socks off with the best superteen book you’ve ever read.
