EPIC Spring Update!

Hey everybody! While we’ve been regularly updating the EPIC Facebook Page with cool teaser content, it’s been a while since an EPIC blog update. So, what’s going on with the book? A ton, actually.

We’ve recently wrapped production on an 8 page EPIC crossover with Cary Kelley and Red Handed Studios’ Dynagirl. It’s a killer 8-page short, written by Cary and I, with art by the EPIC team. While we’ll be releasing this short digitally in May, the first place to get it will be IN PRINT at the BOSTON COMIC CON!

We’ve created a special New England Exclusive version of EPIC #0 with a flipside cover featuring the EPIC/DG crossover. This book has it all, and is the perfect primer to get you ready for the EPIC ongoing series. Speaking of which…

Production is well underway on EPIC #1. I can easily say, this is the best comic I’ve ever written.  This giant-sized 32-page first issue is a celebration of everything that’s great about superhero comics.  Matt Zolman has taken his sequentials to the next level with this book.  And we’ve added inker Vic Moya to the EPIC team, and Matt and Vic are forming one hell of a one-two punch.  Here’s a taste:

EPIC made it’s first appearance last summer at the Baltimore Comic Con, with the release of EPIC #0 and it was extremely well received.  It only makes sense to release EPIC #1 at the August 20-21 2011 BCC.  So, that’s the plan.

In September, EPIC #1 will be released digitally via our many digital distribution platforms.  AND we’ll also start sharing EPIC online as a regularly updating webcomic.  This is all a part of our “have it your way” approach to make sure this book gets in front of as many readers as possible.

So, that’s all for this update!

Best,

Tyler James

About EPIC

After a freak accident gives teenager Eric Ardor incredible abilities, he enthusiastically joins the ranks of the superpowered set as the masked crusader EPIC. He quickly learns he’s one of the most powerful heroes around: super strength, speed, flight, invulnerability. You name it, he’s got it. Unfortunately, he’s also just discovered his only weakness…beautiful girls! Eric’s powers are inexplicably linked to the attraction and arousal center of his brain. While other boys his age lose their cool around hot chicks, EPIC loses his powers! Living in Miami, home to the zaniest super-villians AND the most beautiful women in America, it’s gonna be a problem…

EPIC Update!

Hey everybody!

I wanted to give a short update of the status of EPIC, as it’s been a while since our last post.  Here’s what’s happening:

  • The EPIC #0 preview book has been extremely well received.  So far, the book has seen limited convention release in Baltimore, Boston, and Ohio, and has sold very well.  Up next is Wizard World Austin, where color artist Ty Tyner will have books on hand.
  • The art team is hard at work on the EPIC/ Dynagirl cross-over comic short.  (See the above image for a glimpse at the fun we have in store for you.)  This 8 page short featuring a team up between EPIC and Cary Kelley’s Dynagirl is our team’s last little tune-up before launching head first into  the ongoing series.
  • Speaking of the first issue, the first draft of issue #1 is complete!  We brought Steven Forbes on as editor, and I’ve received notes back from him.  I’ll be reviewing those with Matt and bringing the script to the finish line in the next week.  While I’m not one for spoilers, I can tell you this…you WILL get your money’s worth out of EPIC #1.
  • In terms of logistics, for the next few months, we’ll largely be working behind the scenes on production.  So, this site will update sporadically at best.  However, we will make a strong effort to update our Facebook page more regularly, so make sure to become a fan and keep up with the latest there.  Expect EpicComic.com to get a major facelift in 2011, followed by regularly scheduled updates as EPIC launches as a webcomic.
  • I’m pleased to announce a new partnership with digital distributor Graphic.ly! Complete issues of EPIC will be available for purchase through Graphic.ly as soon as they’re finished.  So readers will have the opportunity to purchase copies of EPIC for desktop or mobile viewing, or they can choose to read the comic for free on a page by page updated webcomics model.   (And of course, we’ll have print copies for all you dead tree fans as well.)

Again, we appreciate your interest in the comic and really look forward to knocking your socks off with the best superteen book you’ve ever read.
